Background

Tourism is defined as moving from one place to another for the purpose of entertainment, medicine, or discovery, and when covering a distance of no less than eighty kilometers, according to the definition of the World Tourism Organization (affiliated with the United Nations).

 Regardless of the reason for tourism, it is an important economic source of hard currency and a source of income for many establishments and businesses.  Therefore, CSO gave special importance to this data.

Methodology

 Data collection methodology depends on:

Administrative records of relevant facilities.

Surveys which CSO is looking to conduct to obtain data on the characteristics of tourists and tourism.

Most important indicators

 1- Tourists Percentage of total population.

 2- Tourism patterns in terms of purpose of visit and intended travel destinations.

 3-Total tourism expenditure .

 4-Accommodation and expenditure rates for local tourists.

 5-Types of accommodation.

 6-Means of transportation used.
