Background

The Statistical Training Center is the main responsible – within the statistical system, represented by the organization and the statistical units – for implementing and following up practical training procedures, and in full cooperation and coordination with all technical and administrative departments of the organization ,and to train workers in the field of statistics.In Central Statistical Organization and in the statistical units in state ministries and institutions.
The Statistical Training Center established in the Central Organization of Statistics in 1969 and was a part of the decision to establish the Central Statistical Organization. Courses are taught to build the capabilities of the empolyees in the Central Organization of Statistics.

Center Tasks

The tasks and competencies of the Statistical Training Center are defined as follows:
1-Support and provide the statistical training needs of the statistical community in the country.
2-Focus on the practical application of official statistics to meet the needs of data producers and users.
3- Provide harmonious and integrated training curriculam to strengthen the statistical system in the country.
4-Establish a major partnerships with Arab and international statistical training centers and institutes.
5- Cooperate with a wide network of the most prominent international trainers in the field of official statistics.
6- Develop the professional and technical competence of workers in the Central Statistics Organization and statistical units in ministries and government institutions.
7- Update knowledge about statistics by providing modern information and necessary capabilities to workers in the Central Statistics Organization and its offices in the governorates, as well as to workers in statistical units in ministries, facilities, and official and unofficial bodies in the country.
8- Hold seminars and workshops on statistics (seminars for promoting data for statistical surveys and censuses, and seminars for evaluating the results of various censuses and statistical surveys).
9-Meet the requests of various entities to establish training programs for their employees, and evaluate the inputs and outputs of those courses in coordination with those entities and according to their circumstances and work requirements.
10- Coordinate, organize and programming the holding of seminars and training courses that are scheduled to be held internally in the fields of statistics and information, and submitting periodic reports on their progress programmers’.
11- Follow up on the implementation of the annual training plan.
12-Prepare local training requirements, including preparing lecture halls, providing trainers and lecturers, and providing the necessary references, including preparing and printing training materials, and following up on regularity and discipline in the work and performance of trainers, lecturers, and trainees.
13-Prepare training follow-up report forms and determining criteria for evaluating training achievements and measuring deviations.
14- Field visits through technical models and forms to determine the performance levels of workers and the extent of benefit from training.
15-Follow up the trainees in the field of practicing their work and evaluate performance levels to see the levels of training and measure the return from training.
16- Organize the applied statistical and information courses for all employees of the Central Organization in particular and in the statistical units in ministries and government institutions.
17- Prepare training team at the center.

Center Departments

General Administrations according to Statistical Training Center are as following :
1- General Administrations of Training programs: It carries out the following tasks and specializations:
– Collecting and Providing complete and detailed data on all employees of Central Statistics Organization in cooperation with the relevant public sectors and department in CSO to use it in developing annual training plans and programs .
-Developing an Annual plan for internal and external training of the annual plans submitted by the concerned public departments in CSO general Office ,clerks , and statistical unites in ministries , institutions , private sector companies and various other facilities .
-Holding training courses , seminars ,and conferences , whether internal or external , proposing to host any courses ,seminars ,or conference locally , sending invitations to attend, and arranging all procedures with the relevant authorities t home or abroad .
– Following up to obtain the technical reports required from candidates , whether in internal or external training events or activities , evaluate them ,and benefit from what is presented during them in the various .
– Preparing records for external training amd knowing the level of the candidate before benefiting so that he is able to complete the period of study or training and follow up ao all procedures in coordination with other concerned public department in CSO.
– Addressing Arab and foreign organizations, bodies, institutes and statistical offices regarding providing the needs of the Central Organization of Statistics in the field of training in coordination with other concerned public administrations.
– Participating in preparing the center’s annual budget.
-Providing the necessary supplies and needs to implement and maintain public administration tasks.
-Documenting, archiving and preserving all work and activities carried out by the public administration.
– Supervising public administration employees, following up on their implementation of tasks, and conducting an annual evaluation of their performance.
– Submitting monthly, quarterly and annual reports .
– Carrying out any other tasks or work assigned under the direct supervisor.
The General Administration of Training Programs consists of two departments:
-Program Department t.
– Planning Department.
2- General Administration of Training Means and Equipment: It carries out the following tasks and competencies:
-Preparing the annual plan for follow-up in the field of training, especially training opportunities in the fields of statistics and informatics for workers in the Central Statistical Organization and its offices in the governorates and statistical units (in ministries, institutions, and other agencies operating in the country).
– Supervising and following up on the provision of all modern training methods and equipment that contribute to developing and improving the quality of performance of workers in statistical activities in CSO and offices in the governorates or statistical units in official state facilities and agencies and in the private sector as well.
– Supervising the prepare of the system for following up trainees and students abroad, especially in long-term training courses (three months to six months or more), through forms and templates to continue communicating with them and knowing their conditions by following up on reports on all trainees or students abroad, whether individuals or entities ,which they are sent to study, whether those entities are institutes, training centers, universities, or others.
– Supervising and following up on all maintenance work for the equipment, tools and training methods in the center according to a well-studied time plan and in coordination with the relevant public departments in the device.
– Following up on the preparation and design of certificates of success, attendance, participation, or other evidentiary documents required by training programs, events, or other activities at the center.- Preparing special forms (individual forms or questionnaires for trainees) to follow up on the progress of the training process, based on which the evaluation reports related to each training event or activity are submitted.
-Preparing the center’s annual budget to provide the center’s various needs.
-Coordinating between the General Administration of Training Means and Equipment and the General Administration of Training Programs to implement the Center’s plans.
– Providing the necessary supplies and needs to implement and maintain public administration tasks.
-Documenting, archiving and preserving all work and activities carried out by the public administration
-Supervising public administration employees, following up on their implementation of tasks, and conducting an annual evaluation of their performance.
– Submitting monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the center director.
– Carrying out any other tasks or work assigned by the direct supervisor.
The General Administration of Training Aids and Equipment consists of two departments:
-Managing training methods and equipment.
-Evaluation and follow-up management.

Center Activities

The center conducted many training courses, which include:
1- Organized training courses in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund(UNFPA)
2- Organizing self-paced internal courses through a number of academics and experts in the field of statistical software and analysis.
