President of CSO Discusses Supporting Statistical Capabilities and Enhancing Joint Cooperation with German Ambassador

President Central Statistical Organization, Dr. Safa Mautee received the German Ambassador to Yemen, Thomas Schneider, and his accompanying delegation this morning, Thursday, at the organization’s headquarters in Aden.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Mautee welcomed the Ambassador and the Delegation, Emphasizing the Importance of Partnership and Cooperation between the two sides in the Statistical and Development fields.

During the meeting, the operational mechanisms within the Central Statistical Organization were reviewed, along with data collection methods and the scope of Organization’s work as the national database upon which Government plans and policies are based.

The necessity of Conducting a Comprehensive population census was also discussed. The President Organization stressed that transitioning to the development planning phase requires an accurate population figure upon which to base the preparation of strategic development plans.

The meeting also addressed the most prominent technical needs of the Central Statistical Organization and ways to enhance its capabilities in technical and professional aspects, enabling it to perform its role more efficiently in the coming phase.

The meeting was attended on the German side by Mr. David Tanto, Development Cooperation Officer, Alexander Geyer, Security Advisor, Bernhard Worm, Director of the Middle East Region at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation, Lukas Berenbeck, Political Officer, and Anke Moon, Political Officer. Also present from the Central Statistical Organization were Mr. Hassan Ibrahim, Quality Director, and Professor Wadad Hassan, Director General of the Organization’s branch in Abyan Governorate.
