Background of Population Studies Center
Population Research Center established at the Central Statistical Organization in Aden in the 1980s, for its important role which it conducts research and studies related to population issues and submitting them to the competent authorities to formulate policies and make decisions, to contribute achieving strategic development goals. Population research and studies focus on population issues and their impact on development, and receive the attention of the government, society, universities, research centers, and Arab, regional and international organizations. The effects of population issues are greatly reflected in the economic, social and environmental aspects of developing societies of which we are a part. Population research and studies accelerated growth rates and the flow of internal and external migration with a wave of displacement from conflict areas and their effects on the host society.
Center Tasks
The tasks and competencies of the Center for Studies and Research are determined as follows:
1- Conducting research and studies on demographic and social phenomena to investigate the factors determining their levels and the indicators of those factors on the population in cooperation with the population and social sector, organizations and researchers.
2- Conducting research and studies on economic, financial, and business phenomena in cooperation with the population and social sectors to investigate the factors determining their levels and indicators of those factors on population and human development in cooperation with the economic, financial, business, organizations, and researchers.
3- Conducting research and studies on modern statistical standards and human development in cooperation with the economic and financial sectors, business, organizations and researchers.
4- Conducting any studies or research related to statistical phenomena that affect comprehensive human development.
5- Organizing and holding seminars and workshops related to statistical studies and research in economic, social, demographic, financial and business aspects.
6- Issuing the semi-annual Population Research and Studies magazine for various studies and research related to the center’s activity.
