CSO Background

Central statistical Organization in the Capital (Aden )is an ancient institution that was established after 1946 census , at first as a department in The Council of Ministers in the Union Government , During the British governance of Aden in 1953.
It contributed to the census of Aden in 1955, then in 1969 it became an Independent Center of the Council of Ministers , Mr. Nazim Haider was the first director of CSO who is the United Nations Expert , then later became part of Law No (28) of Minister of Planning and Economy . However , It maintained its status as a legal place with Independent Financial Liability . as stated in Article (3) of the Organizational regulations of CSO for Republican Decree No (233) of the year 2003 stipulates that ” Central Statistical Organization has a legal personality and has Independent Financial Liability and under the supervision of Minister” Article (40) of executive regulations of law (28) of 1995 regarding statistics stipulates that ” The Organizational regulation of CSO and the authority of each of the Ministers and the president of CSO and the Directors of departements shall be determined ” which is what was specified in Article (3) mentioned above .
