Central Statistical Organization Launches a Training Course on Data Integration for Thematic Analysis

Saturday morning, , in Aden, Under the sponsorship of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and within the framework of capacity-building programs for its staff, the Statistical Training Center at CSO launched a specialized training course on “Data Integration from Multiple Sources for Thematic Analysis” . The course will held from August 16 to 20, 2025.
Prof. Safa Mautee, chairman of Central Statistical Organization, emphasized that statistical data analysis constitutes the backbone of evidence-based policymaking, enabling governments and stakeholders to make decisions based on a true understanding of population needs. She also pointed out that national statistical offices play a pivotal role in ensuring the production of high-quality, timely, and relevant official statistics. This role goes beyond data collection, but extends to analyzing, interpreting, and transforming data into accurate information that contributes to effective policymaking. Prof. Safa added that organizing such training courses reflects the organization’s commitment to developing staff and enhancing their capabilities to enable them to address the complex challenges in the Yemeni context, which requires the integration of various data sources, including surveys, censuses, and administrative records.
Dr.Safa concluded by emphasizing that investing in statistical capacity building represents an investment in Yemen’s future development, expressing her wishes for success for the participants in the course.
The course, attended by 25 participants from the Central Statistical Organization’s headquarters and branches in the liberated governorates, aims to enhance the capabilities of statistical staff in the areas of official statistical data analysis and develop their skills in using appropriate analytical frameworks to integrate and interpret data effectively.The course is attended by the general directors of CSO branches in Lahj, Abyan, Al Dhale’e, Shabwah, Al Mukalla, Sayoun, Abyan, Taiz, Marib, Al Mahrah, Al Jawf, Socotra, and Al Hodeidah.
The training workshop seeks to enhance participants’ understanding of the basic principles and methods of statistical data analysis, introduce them to analytical frameworks that help organize and interpret results, develop practical skills using statistical tools and techniques, promote critical thinking about the quality of statistics and their suitability for national use, and encourage cooperation among CSO staff
