The Statistical Training Center at Central Statistics Organization( CSO) Finishes a Training Course on (Statistics of the Elderly and Disability)

Thursday ,The Statistical Training Center at the Central Statistics Organization finished a training course on (Statistics of the Elderly and Disability) with the support of the United Nations Population Fund and within the framework of building the capacity of CSO’s employees , with  the Director of the Fund’s Office in Aden, Mr. John Paul, and representatives of the UNFPA, Mr. Alaa Ihab and Mr. Majed Al-Sarihi.
The participants, under the leadership of the trainer, Prof. Ali Ahmed Al-Saqqaf, Professor of Statistics at the University of Aden, introduced the definition of disability and deficiencies, their root causes and indicators, identifying disability support models from the charity model to the model based on human rights and the health care approach, disability indicators and local, Arab and international statistics, improving attitudes towards people with disabilities and the elderly, and the factors that multiply their weaknesses and strengths.
The participants, which are 14 trainees from the employees of the Central Statistical Organization and the relevant ministries, received a lot of knowledge and information related to disability and elderly indicators over five days of intensive training.
 The president of  Central Statistics Organization, Prof. Safa Mautee, confirmed that the training course aims primarily to enable trainees to work on providing data and building indicators. This will contribute to formulating policies and programs from the competent authorities to accommodate the requirements and needs of the disabled and elderly.
She also confirmed all trainees to reflect everything they received during the training days from theoretical concepts, information and applied scientific methods into a tangible reality on the ground in the required and optimal manner. Praising the support and efforts of the United Nations Population Fund to conduct such training courses that contribute to qualifying and developing the skills and capabilities of the organization’s members and statistics departments in a number of ministries.
The Director of the Fund’s Office in Aden, John Paul, praised the activity of the Central Statistics Organization in various fields, especially improving the quality of work and developing the skills and capabilities of its employees by conducting many training courses and their interest in supporting such qualification courses that benefit many groups in society.
In conclusion, all trainees honored with certificates of appreciation.
