French Ambassador to Yemen Catherine Kammoun Visits the Central Statistical Organization in Aden

President of Central Statistical Organization, Dr. Safa Mautee received the French Ambassador to Yemen, Catherine Kammoun, and her accompanying delegation this morning, Wednesday, at the organization’s headquarters in Aden.
Dr. Mautee welcomed the Ambassador and her Delegation, expressing her appreciation for the visit, which reflects France’s interest in learning about statistical work in Yemen and Strengthening Cooperation between the two countries. She noted that the Organization serves as the national authority for producing data that is essential for development planning and decision-making.
During the meeting, the French Ambassador was briefed on the organization’s Operations and ongoing Statistical projects, including the Household Budget Survey, economic surveys, and the Maternal Mortality Survey, conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and Population and with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), UNICEF, and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The Importance of Statistical data in Development Planning was also reviewed, along with the support the Agency receives from the Presidency and the Prime Minister. The challenges facing statistical work were also discussed, most notably the expiration of the 2004 census and the need to conduct a comprehensive population and housing census according to international standards.
The meeting addressed avenues of cooperation in building the technical and technological capacities of statistical personnel and utilizing population information systems and remote sensing to support sustainable development, given that population and economic data are fundamental to any successful planning.
For her part, French Ambassador Catherine Camon commended the Central Statistical Organization’s efforts and its professional work under exceptional circumstances, emphasizing France’s Commitment to supporting Statistical and Developmental fields and Strengthening joint Cooperation in this area.
At the Conclusion of the visit, Dr. Safa Mautee Expressed her Gratitude to the French Ambassador for her visit and interest, affirming the agency’s readiness to benefit from the expertise and advanced technologies of developed countries, including France, to build upon the achievements of others and contribute to the development of the statistical system.
