The Training Center at CSO concludes its training course on emergency and crisis statistics

The Statistical Training Center at the Central Statistical Organization concluded, today, Thursday, its training course on (Emergency and Crisis Statistics), which lasted for five days from August 25 to 29 of the current month 2024 , in the building of the Central Organization’s office – Tawahi Directorate in the capital, with the support of the United Nations Population Fund, in the presence of representatives of the UNFPA organization, namely Mr. Majed Al-Sarihi, B. Alaa Ihab.
18 male and female participants from the general directors of the statistics branches in the liberated governorates and a number of the office’s employees in Aden received over five days under the leadership of the trainer in the field of environmental media, disaster risk reduction and early warning, Dr. Yasser Baazab, many basic knowledge, concepts and principles for reducing disaster risks, their types, stages of assessment, methods of reducing them, how to deal with them and collecting data.
 The participants also learned theoretically and practically about the objectives, expected results, emergency planning process, the ten basics for making cities resilient, climate change and its effects, national, Arab and global efforts to reduce climate change and the priorities of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
The President of CSO Dr. Safa Mautee, confirmed that this course comes within a series of courses aimed at building the capacities of the agency’s employees and branches in the field of emergencies and crises, providing disaster and damage data, and familiarity with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Reduction during climate change and the effects of atmospheric depressions and the accompanying damage to humans and infrastructure.
Dr. Safa stressed the need for participants to embody all the outcomes of what they received during the training days on the ground in order to improve the work of the statistics branches in the liberated governorates and reach a more comprehensive and accurate vision in statistical results. Appreciating the keenness of the United Nations Population Fund to implement such courses that help in qualifying and developing the skills and capabilities of the members of the Central Statistical Organization .
For his part, Mr. Majed Al-Sarihi, a word on behalf of the UNFPA organization, praised at the beginning the efforts of Dr. Safa in making the training course a success and her continuous efforts to develop and improve the quality of work in line with the capabilities and skills of the agency’s employees. In addition, the trainer, Dr. Yasser Baazab, praised the great efforts made by Dr. Safa Mautee in making the training course a success at the best level, and he also praised the positive interaction of the participants from the beginning of the course until the end. In conclusion, all participants were honored with certificates of appreciation to motivate them and their distinguished role that they demonstrated during the training days
