In Aden , Central Statistical Organization concluded a specialized training course on “Localizing Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs) “. Representatives of statistical units from several ministries and government institutions participated.<\/h5>\n
The chairman of CSO , Prof. Safa Mautee , emphasized the importance of the participation of statistical units within ministries as an essential part of the national statistical system. She pointed out that CSO is working to activate these units and build their capacities to contribute to the development of the country’s statistical system.<\/h5>\n
Prof. Safa explained that the CSO receives government support, in addition to the World Bank through a major, multi-year statistical project, and support from the European Union through CSO for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). She emphasized that this support will enable the building of an integrated national statistical system, with statistical units within ministries, government agencies, and the private sector as a pillar of its work.<\/h5>\n
Prof. Safa emphasized the importance of developing strategic plans to enhance the role of institutions in adopting the global sustainable development agenda, as well as the importance of localization at the local and national levels. She also emphasized the need to employ modern technology and advanced statistics, including artificial intelligence, to support localization processes and achieve the goals.<\/h5>\n
Mr. Alaa Farhan, Coordinator and Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), explained that the Fund is working in coordination with Central Statistical Organization to implement practical programs that contribute to the development of sustainable development indicators. He emphasized the need to prioritize these indicators to keep pace with the global trend, and reviewed the United Nations mechanisms and programs in this field.<\/h5>\n
The course trainer, Mrs. Hana Saleh Muthanna, gratituded the participants for their positive interaction, wishing them maximum benefit from the skills and knowledge they acquired during the training.During the course, participants received advanced training on the concepts of sustainable development, its dimensions and obstacles, its pillars and goals, as well as indicators for localizing the goals and their implementation at the national and governorate levels, in line with the country’s and governorates’ realities, with a focus on addressing imbalances within the framework of comprehensive development planning at the local and governorate levels.These indicators clearly reflect the reality for governments.<\/h5>\n
The course concluded with the distribution of certificates to the trainees in a festive atmosphere, affirming the Central Statistical Organization commitment to continuing its efforts to build the capacity of national staff and enhance statistical work that supports sustainable development<\/h5>\n\n\n
