As part of a series of ongoing activities of Central Statistics Organization in building the capacities of its members, Prof. Dr. Safa Mautee, launched today, Sunday, a training course on (Emergency and Crisis Statistics), which was organized by the Statistical Training Center in CSO with the support of the United Nations Population Fund, from August 25 to 29 , 2024 .
*At the beginning of the training course, which conducted in the building of the Central Statistics Organization in Al-Tawahi District, Aden, Dr. Safa welcomed the Coordinator of the Youth and Population Program at the United Nations Population Fund in Aden, Alaa Ihab, and all trainees from the office and branches of the Central Statistics Organization in the liberated governorates, each by name and title.
 This course comes within a series of courses within the framework of building the capacities of the employees of CSO and its branches in the field of emergencies and crises and providing disaster and damage data and familiarity with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Reduction and early warning.
Dr.  Safaa Mautee said that “the training course targets 18 male and female participants from the general managers of the statistics branches in the liberated governorates, and aims to develop and enhance their capabilities and enable them to deal with emergencies and crises, which shows today in abundance in climate change, including the effects of air depressions and the damage they cause to people and infrastructure. wishing all participants permanent success and to come out with sufficient understanding to build an administrative record for emergency data and form specialized units in the branches to build a database that helps decision-makers in formulating policies capable of reducing the effects of disasters and crises”.
The Coordinator of the Youth and Population Program at the United Nations Population Fund, Alaa Ihab, give a speech in which he praised the efforts of the Central Statistics Organization in expanding its activities and its great interest in developing the skills and capabilities of its employees, specifically in emergency and crisis statistics, given their great importance in our country due to the increase in air depressions and their interest of the United Nations Population Fund for such training courses in Aden.
 The five-day training course, led by trainer Dr. Yasser Baazab, who specializes in environmental media, covers the basic concepts and principles of disaster risk reduction, its types, assessment stages, and methods of reducing it, in addition to the objectives, expected results, emergency planning process, and statistics on disaster losses and damages.
