During the meeting, Dr. Safa discussed the issue of a comprehensive census of the population, housing and establishments and the importance of uniting and mobilizing support and efforts to carry it out, especially since the last population projection based on the 2004 census will be in 2025, which necessitates to conduct a comprehensive census as a requirement for the next stage, as after this it is not possible to adopt any population projection.
It also reviewed the most important aspects of support that CSO needs in its infrastructure and building the capabilities of personnel, as well as in building the national statistical system, which was contained in detail in the first national strategy of the Central Statistics Organization which will reflect on emergency humanitarian response plans and in the country’s development plans. This support was by a number of organizations in supporting CSO.
Mr. Pierre emphasized the importance of the CSO database in humanitarian response plans and development plans, which necessitates partnership, unification and coordination of the roles and efforts of international organizations in working with CSO, which will of course be reflected in the quality of statistical data used on the local and international scale.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Zakaria Saeed, Special Assistant to the Deputy Resident Representative and Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen. The meeting was attended by the leaders of the technical team of Central Statistics Organization.
