Today, Central Statistics Organization supported by World Food Programme organized in the capital, Aden, the launching event of Central Statistics Organizatio’s First National Strategy
The President of Central Statistics Organization , Dr. Safa Mautee, started the event and gave a speech to the attendees about the establishment of CSO and the legislation regulation . Dr. Safa Mautee explained the stages that took place since the activation of CSO in August 2022, and the difficulties that faced CSO and its success in overcoming it over many difficulties.
Dr.Safa Mautee thanked the international organizations that supported CSO, including WFP, who supported this event in addition to capacity building. Dr. Safa also praised United Nations Population Fund and its major role in supporting infrastructure, as well as UNICEF , FAO, IOM , and OCHA.
She explained in her speech that the statistics law and its regulations are the basis of statistical work. CSO seeks to build and digitize the national statistical system, which is the basis for statistical work with all partners.
Dr. Safa explained that the launch of CSO’s first national strategy aims to reflect the current reality with its offices and branches, and to indicate the priority of needs in all aspects, in order to mobilize support in building CSO’s human, technical, and material capabilities to ensure the quality of the outputs of statistical work.
She demonstrated the sensitivity of the statistical figure produced in building development and humanitarian plans in the country, which are concerned with improving the living conditions of citizens.
Finally , Dr. Safa thanked the attendees and CSO team who worked day and night to produce this strategy.
Mr. Mark Gordon, Director of the World Food Program Office in Aden, also spoke about the importance of statistics in development plans and the depth of the partnership between CSO and future work through upcoming in-depth studies.
Director General of the Arab Institute for Statistical Research and Training who was online, he expressed the importance of this strategy as a starting point and praised the efforts made and the importance of this document as a foundation for launching into a national strategy for the national statistical system, the system led by the Central Statistics Organization with all government agencies.
